Langara Island Lodge, a luxurious 42 guests resort located in the beautiful Haïda Gwaii, is looking for Chef Tournant for this coming summer Fishing season 2019. We are looking for someone who will commit to multiple seasons with us at Langara Island Lodge. Under the direction of the Executive Chef and the Sous Chef, the Chef Tournant will help oversee all food preparation, ensure maximum productivity and the highest level of quality of all meals coming out of our 3 kitchens, cover our 5 stations thru out the week, while our team members are on their weekly day off. Keeping the kitchens, walk-in Fridges and freezers organized and prepared for the morning, lunch, and dinner time services depending on which station is covered that day. Responsible for the proper operation of different kitchens Responsible for accurate service of the 12+ guests once a week. Chef Tournant is expected to be in line function for +- 100% of his work days Ensure all orders are executed in a timely manner, paying attention to ordering times while also focusing on the highest quality of work and detail Ensuring fridges, freezers and work area are left in a tidy and organized manner after grocery delivery days. Work closely with colleagues to ensure the high quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation Utilize effective problem-solving and abilities to resolve any issues with associates. QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced, high volume, professional Fine Dining environment Ability to work, 6 days a week, standing for 10-hour shifts, and overtime as required Ability to lift 25 kg Strong knowledge of back of house operations Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong principals in regard to proper cooking techniques Able to juggle multiple tasks at a time while prioritizing the most important Organized with excellent attention to detail Compensation for the position will be based on experience.
